If you're buying one used (from me, for example) it's probably worth it, but if you are looking for a new machine skip ahead to the Sage/Solis/Breville Barista Pro, which really is an upgrade and for only a few franks more. On the plus side the compact - when it works - does make excellent espresso. We had a different Solis machine, the Grind and Infuse Pro, for five years, and then a year ago when it finally needed service I allowed the salesman (not Galaxus) to offer me an "upgrade" to this machine, the Compact for the cost of the support contract I had already paid for. Not remotely as good as other products in the same line
